Box Score ALLENTOWN, Pa. (October 10, 2012) – In a match with regional ranking implications, Muhlenberg (8-3) emerged victorious with a 1-0 victory over the Rangers this evening. The loss snaps a three-game winning streak and drops Drew to 8-3-2 on the season.
Offense was not at a premium in tonight's game with only six shots between both teams going on goal. Only one shot would turn out to be important in the game's 22
nd minute. With an award of a free kick near midfield, Mule defender Bucky Aronoff served a ball into the box which headed into the back of the net by Cody Antonini to make the score 1-0 midway through the first half.
The Rangers had a tough time getting off shots in the contest and recorded only one shot on goal which was saved by Muhlenberg goalkeeper, Jas Chojnowski. Ranger goaltender
Michael Reyes (Delran, N.J./Delran), who came into the contest ranked 10
th in the nation in save percentage, made four stops in his second loss of the season.
Muhlenberg held a 10-4 advantage in shots and both teams took three corner kicks in 90 minutes.
On Saturday the Rangers will travel to the University of Scranton, who is currently ranked 22
nd in the country in the latest NSCAA Coaches Poll, for a Landmark Conference game. The men will be the second part of a soccer doubleheader and scheduled to start at 3:30 p.m.
