MADISON, N.J. (October 27, 2012) – The Drew University women's swim team (0-1) were defeated, 112-86 by King's College (1-0) this afternoon in the season opener of the 2012-13 season at F.M. Kirby Pool. The Rangers received a pair of individual wins from junior
Mariel Schwinger (Los Angeles, Calif./Sherman Oaks).
Schwinger also was a part of the winning 200 Medley Relay squad made up of
Jess Harrington (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield),
Rebecca Hutsebaut (Mcafee, N.J./Vernon Twp.),
Jordan Bader (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) and Schwinger. The foursome won the meet's first event with a time of 1:48.61 which nearly beat the top Medley Relay time of last season.
Beginning her third season, Schwinger won the 200 Free and the 500 Free with times of 2:06.05 and 5:38.08 respectively. Harrington was also a double-winner in the today's meet posting the top times in the 50 Free and the 100 Back. Her time of 26.21 in the 50 Free was a new lifetime best and the sixth-best time in Drew history. She turned in a time of 1:05.35 to win the 100 Backstroke.
The Rangers will be on the road this Friday or a tri meet with Mount St. Mary's and York College (N.Y.). The meet will take place in Newburgh, N.Y. and is slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
