Rangers Blank Gophers for Third-straight Win

Box Score TOWSON, Md. (October 6, 2012) – The Drew men's soccer team registered its eighth win and now sit at 2-1 in Landmark Conference play after a 3-0 shutout of Goucher (3-6-1, 0-3) this afternoon. 
 
The Rangers statistically dominated the contest, outshooting the Gophers 29-5. Sophomore Michael Reyes (Delran, N.J./Delran) recorded his fifth shutout of the year, making one save on the night.
 
Drew recorded the only goal of the first half without putting the ball in net themselves. The Rangers were credited with an own goal in the 20th minute after Michael Pezzuti (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex Regional) fired a shot that was redirected into the back of the net after hitting a Goucher defender.
 
Sophomore Daniel Ratyniak (Forked River, N.J./Lacey Twp.) put the Rangers up 2-0 midway through the second half with his third goal of the year on an assist by Jackson Hurst (Madison, N.J./Madison). Pezzuti got a chance later in the game to claim his first score of the season. Junior Will Sanchez (Bound Brook, N.J./Bound Brook) served a perfect corner kick that found the head of Pezzuti to put the Rangers up 3-0.
 
The Rangers will go for four-in-a-row on Wednesday when they travel to Allentown, Pa. to take on Muhlenberg College. The important regional  contest will begin at 7:00 p.m.
