Hawks Hand Rangers Third Road Loss of Young Season

Stephens recorded her second double-double in four games.
Box Score ONEONTA, N.Y. (November 25, 2012) – Hartwick College (3-1) pinned a 71-37 setback on the Drew women's basketball team (1-3) this afternoon in non-conference action. The Hawks forced 21 turnovers that led to 21 points in the Hartwick victory. Kate Purcell of Hartwick led all scorers with 17 points on 5-of-13 shooting. Tracey Koch and Maria Foglia added 13 and 11 respectively to pace the Hawk offense. Senior Whitney Mackay (Suffield, Conn./Berkshire) had a team-high 11 points for the Rangers. Freshman Courtney Stephens (Pikesville, Md./ Gerstell Academy) registered her second double-double in four career games with 10 points and a game-high 11 rebounds. The Hawks opened up the game by scoring the first 12 points and not allowing the Rangers to score a point until the 11:27 mark in the first half. Drew would cut the lead to nine a little under three minutes later but the Hartwick would not relinquish a double-digit lead for the remainder of the game. The Hawks owned a 34-17 lead after the first stanza and went on to outscore the Rangers 37-20 in the second half. Drew shot a season-low, 21 percent from the field and was just 4-of-25 from beyond the 3-point arc. The Rangers will travel to Clarks Summit, Pa. on Wednesday for a non-conference tilt with Baptist Bible. Tip is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
