Box Score CLARKS SUMMIT, Pa. (November 28, 2012) – After tying a season low in points on Sunday evening, the Drew Women's Basketball team (2-3) bounced back with a 63-37 road victory over Baptist Bible College (0-4) this evening.
Senior
Jeramie Barletta (Madison, N.J./Madison) poured in a career-high 14 points and led a balanced Drew attack. Barletta, hit a game-high four, 3-pointers and went 5-for-11 from the field. Freshman
Courtney Stephens (Pikesville, Md./Gerstell Academy) was also in double figures as she registered her third double-double in five games with 11 points and 12 rebounds. Senior
Whitney Mackay (Suffield, Conn./Berkshire) added six points and pulled down a 10 boards.
The Defenders shot a woeful 28 percent from the field and 22 percent from the 3-point line and were led by Kelly Bargfeldt who scored 14 points. Sophomore Chi Boggs chipped in with 10 points and managed six rebounds.
After an evenly played first 10 minutes of the ball game, senior
Becky Smith (Haverville, Mass./Presentation of Mary Academy) sparked a 10-0 run with a layup at the 10:11 mark. Smith finished with a season-high nine points on the night. The Rangers did not trail for the remainder of the contest and opened up a 30-14 lead at halftime.
Drew was able to outscore Baptist Bible, 33-23 in the second half to hang on to the first road win of the season. Both teams were even in the rebounding category, with each grabbing 38. The Defenders turned the ball over a total of 18 times compared to 14 by the Rangers.
The Rangers will return home to begin Landmark Conference play on Saturday when they welcome in Catholic University. Tip is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. in Baldwin Gym.
