Rangers Drop Two Against Defending Champion Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. (March 27, 2012) – Moravian (10-6, 3-1 Landmark) swept the Landmark Conference doubleheader today against Drew (5-7, 1-3 Landmark) with a 11-2 win and game one and a 9-0 victory in game two. Greyhound pitcher, Alyssa Fegley, pitched a no-hitter in game two in five innings of work.

Game 1
The Rangers jumped out to a 1-0 lead in their first turn at the plate on an RBI double Michelle Cozza (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur) that scored Antoinette Tovar (South El Monte, Calif./South El Monte). Moravian did most of the offensive work from that point forward, including nine runs over the first two innings. A two-RBI double by Cassie Ernst gave the Greyhounds the lead in the bottom of the first.

Moravian tacked on five more runs on five hits in the bottom of the second to open up a 9-1 advantage. The inning was highlighted by a double from Taylor Mihalik that brought home two runs. The Rangers pushed home their final run of the game in their last at bat after stringing together three hits in the bottom of the fifth. Tovar grounded to second, scoring Casey Reggiani (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park).

Game 2
The Greyhound offense was once again jumped out to an early lead in the nightcap, but the story of the game was Fegley. The junior worked five innings, striking out seven Drew batters. The only Rangers to reach base in the contest were Lexie Forsell (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro), who earned a walk, and Jeramie Barletta (Madison, N.J./Madison) who reached on an error in the top of the fifth.

The Rangers will be back home on Thursday to take on William Paterson in a non-conference tilt at 3:30.
