MADISON, N.J. (April 15, 2012) – For the first time since entering the Landmark Conference in 2008, the Drew baseball team swept a conference series thanks to a 5-4, walk-off victory today over Susquehanna (13-18) on Doc Young Field. Senior

Just as they have done all weekend, the Rangers battled back for their 16
th win of the season and improve to 7-5 in the Landmark Conference. Drew (16-13) now sits in alone in fourth placed in the conference standings.
With the game tied at four in the bottom of the ninth inning, junior
Michael Bodden (Toms River, N.J./Monsignor Donovan) led off the frame with a triple down the right field line. Susquehanna elected to intentionally load the bases to get to Tuchol. The senior third baseman grounded a ball up the middle that got past a drawn in infield to win the game for the Rangers. It marked the third time this season that Drew has won in its last at bat.
Drew starting pitcher
Ken Myers (Stratford, N.J./Sterling) pitched seven solid innings for the Rangers, allowing three runs while striking out three. Junior
Pat Rock (Cranston, R.I./Providence Country Day) relieved the sophomore Myers in the eighth and surrendered two runs to tie the game at four. Rock, who pitched four innings in yesterday's game to earn the win, threw a scoreless ninth to earn his second victory in as many days.
The Crusaders built a two-run lead in the top of the second on an RBI triple by Kyle Semmel and an RBI single by Mike Rucereto. The Rangers added runs in the bottom of the fourth and fifth, tying the game on a
Tom Murray (Brick, N.J./Brick Memorial) sacrifice fly.
A sacrifice bunt by
Matthew Kaplon (Palisades Park, N.J./Palisades Park) in the top of sixth that went awry for the Crusaders scored two Ranger runs, giving the home team a 4-2 lead. Susquehanna rallied in the eighth to tie the game on an RBI double by pinch hitter Gregg Uhlak and then a RBI single by Semmel.
