Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
Madison, N.J. (April 15, 2012) – The Rangers swept the College of Staten Island in a doubleheader at home today, improving their record to 11-15 and stretching their win streak to a season-high four games. The Drew offense came to life today, combining for a total of 23 hits, including seven doubles, in 9-1 and 9-3 wins.

Two Rangers helped to cement their spots in the Drew softball history books on their way to today's sweep.  Junior Jennifer Mateo (Union City, N.J./Union City) now is the all-time leader in career stolen bases with 36.  Sophomore Lexie Forsell (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro) had a double in each game, moving her in to eighth place all-time with 18 career doubles.

Game 1
Freshman pitcher Casey Reggiani (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) set the tone early for the Rangers when she started the day retiring the first three batters she faced from the Dolphins on only nine pitches.  The Rangers completed a strong first inning when they batted around en route to a 4-0 lead off of two hits; taking advantage of three Dolphins errors.

Drew stretched their lead to 6-1 in the second off of a pair of hits from Rebecca Hutsebaut (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Township) and Kate McNamara (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) who each had stellar days at the plate, going 5-for-7 and 5-for-6 respectively.

Reggiani was able to hold the Dolphins to three hits, and helped her own cause with a triple to open the fifth inning.  She scored off of the double from first baseman Michelle Cozza (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur)Jeramie Barletta (Madison, N.J./Madison) would once again have the key RBI of the game for the Rangers when she ended the game in five innings on a single to left field to bring Forsell home for the ninth run.

Game 2
The Rangers had a slow start in the second game, falling behind 3-1 in early innings.  Hutsebaut and McNamara once again combined for back-to-back hits and later scored to tie the game for Drew in the bottom of the fourth.

Drew also had great defense on display, turning a double play in the sixth inning to eliminate the threat from Staten Island.  With the bases loaded, McNamara and Hutsebaut combined to catch the runner at home, and a spot-on throw from Hutsebaut also caught the batter on her way to first to get out of the inning.

With the tie looming in the bottom of the sixth, the Rangers surged to bring home six runs.  Hutsebaut and McNamara led off the inning with a pair of hits.  Michelle Cozza singled to right field with the bases loaded to score the go-ahead run for the Rangers.  Pitcher Laura D'Ornellas (Lanoka Harbor, N.J./Lacey Township) was able to retire the Dolphins in order to get her sixth win of the season.

The Rangers look to continue their win streak when they travel to Allentown, Pa. to take on Muhlenberg College this Wednesday.  First pitch is set for 3:00 P.M.
