SELINSGROVE, Pa. (April 21, 2012) – Drew (13-17, 3-7 Landmark) scored three runs in the top of the seventh inning in a 4-3 victory against first place Susquehanna (19-11, 6-2) in game two of a Landmark Conference doubleheader this afternoon. They Crusaders won the first game of the day 6-1 behind a strong pitching effort.

Game 1
Crusader starting pitcher Alison Cullen tossed five innings of two-hit ball, recording one strikeout to collect her seventh win of the spring. Her only blemish came in the top of the second after a lead-off double by junior Jeramie Barletta (Madison, N.J./Madison). The Drew short stop came in on a fielder's choice off the bat of Casey Reggiani (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) that tied the game at one.

Susquehanna opened up a three run lead in the bottom of the fourth thanks to a two-run triple by Alyssa Cantalini and an RBI single by Madison Clark. The Crusaders added two insurance runs in the bottom of the sixth after a two-run homer by Canalini. She finished game one 2-for-3 with four RBIs.

Game 2
Trailing 2-0 going into the top of the sixth, the Rangers cut the lead in half on an RBI single from Rebecca Hutsebaut (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) that scored Lexie Forsell (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro).

In their next turn at the plate, Laura D'Ornellas (Lonoka Harbor, N.J./Lacey Twp.) tripled in Michelle Cozza (Wantagh, N.J./MacArthur) who reached on a single earlier in the inning. One batter later, Forsell delivered an RBI single that scored two runs to give the Rangers a 4-2 lead. Forsell finished game two going 2-for-4 with two RBIs and a run scored.

Reggiani, in her seventh inning of work  in the circle allowed two hits and a run in the bottom of the seventh but induced two ground balls to close out the game. The freshman right-hander allowed only two earned runs and struck out three batters to keep the Rangers in the ball game. She was credited with her fourth-straight win and fifth on the season.

The victory is the first over the Crusaders since their first ever Landmark Conference matchup in 2008.

The Rangers, eliminated from playoff contention, will close out the season with three non-conference tilts beginning with cross-street rival Fairleigh Dickinson tomorrow at 1:00 p.m.
