Box Score 1 | Box Score 2
NEW YORK, N.Y. (April 24, 2012) – Drew (14-18) got a strong pitching performance by Laura D'Ornellas (Lanoka Harbor, N.J./Lacey Twp.) and Amy Benedict (Howell, N.J./Freehold Twp.) in a 6-1, game one victory. The Hawks hit three home runs to power them to a 8-3 win in the nightcap.

Game 1
D'Ornellas and Benedict combined for a two-hit, complete game for the Rangers 14th win of the season. Benedict went five innings and earned her fourth win of the season.

With D'Ornellas dealing in the circle, the Rangers offense got to work quickly in the top of the first when junior Jennifer Mateo (Union City, N.J./Union City) drew a leadoff walk. Sophomore Lexie Forsell (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro) came up one batter later and doubled into left center field to score the game's first run. She would later come around on an RBI single by Rebecca Hutesebaut (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.)

The Hawks only run of the game came in the bottom of the second when Josephine Estevez blasted a solo home run to lead off the inning. Hunter managed only three more base runners in the entire contest.

The Rangers blew the game open in the top of fifth, plating three runs. Hutesebaut delivered an two-RBI double that scored D'Ornellas and Forsell. Hutsebaut finished the day going 2-for-4 with three runs batted in.

Forsell continued her seven game hit streak, going 3-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored. Benedict helped her own cause, registering two hits in the contest, including an RBI single in the top of the sixth.

Game 2
The Rangers continued their offensive momentum in the top of the second inning and jumped out to a 3-0 lead.  A single by Casey Reggiani (Whippany, N.J./Whippany Park) and a walk to Kate McNamara (Levitttown, N.Y./MacArthur) put two runners on for Michelle Cozza (Wantagh, N.Y./MacArthur). The freshman first basemen brought all three runners home on her first career home run.

The momentum came to a stop for the Rangers from that point forward, but the long balls kept flying out of the yard. In the bottom of the third, the Hawks posted five runs on the scoreboard, taking the lead for good. Estevez hit one of three home runs in the game for Hunter and finished the day 3-for-5 with two home runs and  five RBIs.

Hunter starting pitcher Angel Iacovetti allowed only three more hits to the Ranger attack and went all six innings for her ninth win of the season.

The Rangers will conclude their season tomorrow with a doubleheader at home against Elmira College starting at 3:30 p.m.
