O’Keefe, Kuras Each Net Two in First Win

Box Score HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (September 1, 2012) – Juniors Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) and Caroline Kuras (Allamuchy, N.J./Pope John XXIII) both scored twice in a 4-2 win over Centenary College (1-1). Drew (1-1) finished in second place in the Cyclone Classic behind yesterday's opponent, St. John Fisher.

The Rangers never trailed in the contest, netting the game's first two goals. Kuras put the Rangers up 1-0 in the 18th minute after she brought the ball down the left side of the field and punched it past Cyclone keeper Alyssa Hackelberg. A little over 10 minutes later, O'Keefe got in on the action when she headed a Emma Campbell (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) pass into the back of the net, giving the Rangers a 2-0 advantage.

Just before the half, Centenary's Tatiana Kingston sent a ball to Rebecca D'Angelo who struck a long range shot that nestled right under the crossbar and just above the outstretched hands of Kim Jaikissoon (Maplewood, N.J./Columbia) to bring the Cyclones to within one goal with just 47 seconds left in the frame.

The duo of O'Keefe and Kuras quickly erased all notions of a Centenary comeback in the second half, scoring two goals in a span of seven minutes. Freshman Shannon Slowey (Pittstown, N.J./Delaware Valley Regional) registered her first collegiate point assisting O'Keefe on her second goal of the day in the 71st minute.

Kuras finished off her second-career multiple score game in the 78th minute on an unassisted goal giving the Rangers a 4-1 advantage.

Jaikissoon played all 90 minutes in net for the Rangers, notching seven saves. The senior goalie now has 158 career saves.

Head Coach Christa Racine and her squad will have a week to prepare for the women's soccer version of Fall Fest next weekend. The Rangers kick-off the action on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. when they take on Rutgers-Camden.
