Rangers Blank Eagles for 5th Win

Box Score PATCHOGUE, N.Y. (September 19, 2012) – Drew (5-1-2) cruised to a 6-0 road win over St. Joseph's-Long Island (2-6) earlier this evening. The Rangers have now shut out five-straight opponents.

The Rangers quickly jumped out to a 1-0 lead just 4:20 into the game on the first goal of the year by sophomore Ricardo Castro (Mexicali, Mexico/Vincent Memorial). Freshman Daniel Giraldo (Madison, N.J./Madison) recorded his first collegiate point after being credited with his first of two assists on the evening.

Sophomore John Nogiewich (Pine Beach, N.J./Toms River South) put the Rangers up 2-0 in the 24th minute when he tipped in a Michael Pezzutti (Fairfield, N.J./West Essex) pass.

Back-to-back goals just five minutes apart by Mike Jacques (Princeton Junction, N.J./West Windsor –Plainsboro North) and the second of the night by Nogiewich gave the Rangers a commanding 4-0 lead with 35 minutes to play.

 Junior Eduardo Moran (Mexicali, Mexico/El Cajon (Calif.)) capped the Drew scoring off in the 82nd minute with his first career goal off an assist by Kenan Gelfond (Medford, N.J./Shawnee).  The assist by Gelfond was his first career point.

Senior Rich Boland (North Kingston, R.I./Moses Brown) needed to make just two saves to earn his second win of the fall. The shutout is the senior's tenth of his career.

The Rangers will travel to Selinsgrove, Pa. on Saturday to open up Landmark Conference play at Susquehanna. The men will follow the women in a game slated for 4:30 p.m.
