MADISON, N.J. (January 25, 2012) – The Drew University men's and women's swim teams won their final non-conference meet of the season this evening with victories over Mount St. Vincent this evening in F.M. Kirby Pool. The men scored a season-high 113 points, winning 113-75 while the women emerged victorious, 122-74.
Sophomore
Clayton Curran (Middletown, Conn./Middletown) won a meet high three individual events and
Jess Harrington (Ridgefield, Conn./Ridgefield) was a double-winner on the night. Curran began the night by capturing the 1000 freestyle and went on to win both the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle with times of 23.90 and 50.92 respectively. Harrington took home victories in the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle. Her 200 IM time of 2:28.42 was a season-best.
Other first place finishers on the women's side included,
Sarah O'Brien (Southbury, Conn./Pomperaug) in the 1000 freestyle,
Mariel Schwinger (Los Angeles, Calif./Sherman Oaks) in the 50 freestyle and
Alexa Morrissey (Brooklyn, N.Y./Fontbonne Hall Academy) in the 200 freestyle.
Morrissey also anchored the meet opening win in the 200 Medley Relay. She was joined by
Catie Rueger (Housatonic, Mass./Monument Moutain),
Nancy Lam (Kearny, N.J./Kearny) and
Jordan Bader (Oceanside, N.Y./Oceanside) to turn in a time of 2:03.72.
For the men, senior
Matt Boudreau (Stockbridge, Mass./Monument Mountain) touched first in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:05.92. Junior
Thomas DiGuglielmo (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) also took home a first place finish, winning the 200 individual medley with a season-best time of 2:09.73.
The Rangers will be back in the pool on Saturday for their final road Landmark Conference meet against Scranton at 1:00 p.m.
