MADISON, N.J. (October 18, 2013) – The Drew University baseball team and Head Coach
Brian Hirschberg were featured in a promotional video for Team Impact, a non-profit chartered to improve the quality of life for children facing life-threatening illnesses.
Last spring, the Drew Baseball program drafted 15-year-old Bobby Ludwick from Clark, NJ. When Bobby was born, he was diagnosed with a rare form of Congenital Heart Disease called Aortic Stenosis. He spent the entire season with the team. He was formally introduced to the team with his own jersey inside the baseball locker room. Ludwick was spotted in or around the dugout at Ranger home games throughout the year.

Brian Hirschberg was interviewed on camera for a promotional video for the organization.
"This program has been great for everyone. When Bobby first came to us, he was pretty quiet and reserved. Now he is in his element when he's on the baseball field, joking around and hanging out with the guys in the dugout. He's always smiling," said Coach Hirschberg.
Team IMPACT children are drafted onto local college athletic teams and, to the greatest extent possible, become an official member of the team for the duration of their treatment and beyond.
"The relationship has also been extremely impactful for our players. I think sometimes it's easy for our guys to get caught up in their own struggles, whether it's not doing well on a test or going through a hitting slump. Spending time with Bobby helps put things in perspective that being a college athlete, relatively speaking, is easy," added Hirschberg.
