Box Score MADISON, N.J.. (October 5, 2013)— The Drew University women's soccer team (9-1, 2-0 Landmark) continued its winning ways with a 4-2 victory over the Susquehanna Crusaders (1-9-1, 0-2 Landmark) this afternoon at Ranger Stadium. Today's win marked the first against Susquehanna since 2010.
Sophomore
Emma Campbell (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) scored twice while senior
Liz Loidice (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) added a goal and an assist, leading the Rangers to their seventh-straight victory. Campbell has four goals in her last two games.
The Rangers jumped out to an early 1-0 lead on a header goal by
Mel Santos (Iselin, N.J./John F. Kennedy Memorial) 27 minutes into the contest.. Senior
Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Senaca) attempted a free kick that found the head of classmate
Liz Loiodice (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) before Santos knocked it into the back of the net for her third goal of the season. Susquehanna answered with five minutes remaining in the first half on a goal scored by Laura Buriak. The Rangers and Crusaders entered the half tied, 1-1.
Drew started the second half with three goals in the first 20 minutes. A little over 10 minutes into the second half, Campbell scored her first goal of the match from just outside the box off an assist from
Caroline Kuras (Allamuchy, N.J./Pope John XXIII) giving Drew a 2-1 lead. The Rangers followed Campbell's goal with another five minutes later when Loiodice headed the ball past the keeper, extending the lead to 3-1. Sophomore
Alexa Kogan (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro North) placed a perfect corner kick cross that Loidice was able to put home for her eighth goal of the year
.. Campbell put the game out of reach with her second goal of the match five minutes later off a feed from Loiodice.
Senior
Agata Dera (Wallington, N.J./Wallington) started in net for the Rangers making three saves while allowing one goal. Freshmen
Andee Higgins (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) played the final 45 minutes and collected her third win of the season in goal for the Rangers.
Drew looks to add to its seven-game winning streak when they return to action on Monday October 7
th, with a match against in-state foe William Paterson. The all-time series between the two schools is tied at 7-7-3.
