WASHINGTON, D.C. (November 16, 2013) – The Catholic University Cardinals came away with victories over the Drew men's and women's swim teams this afternoon in the Nation's Capital. The Cardinals defeated the Ranger men, 129-62 and the Ranger women, 116-81.
The Drew women fall to 1-5 on the season and 0-2 against Landmark Conference opponents. The Ranger men drop to 0-5 and 0-2 in league meets.
Freshman
Tori Braun (Pittstown, N.J./North Hunterdon) and senior
Jess Harrington (Ridgefield, N.J./Ridgefield) each took home victories for the Rangers on the day. Braun just missed her season-best time in the 200 individual medley winning with a time of 2:23.12. Harrington posted the seventh-best time in the Landmark Conference, in the 200 backstroke winning with a time of 2:22.02. The Rangers also claimed third place in the race when Braun touched the wall with a season best time of 2:24.16.
For the men, senior
Austin Goetjen (Simsbury, Conn./Avon Old Farms School) swam a personal best in the 200 backstroke. He placed second with a time of 2:18.52. Freshman
Logan Amodio (Wayne, N.J./DePaul Catholic) turned a second place performance in the 200 individual medley with a time of 2:14.81.
Freshmen
Peter Mari (Washington Twp., N.J./Westwood) and
Christina Santner (Kansas City, Mo./Notre Dame de Sion) both swam season best times in the 200 breaststroke and the 1000 free respectively. Mari came in with a time of 2:39.85 while Santer swam a 11:47.17.
The Rangers will have two more dual meets this weekend beginning with Elizabethtown at home on Friday night at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday Drew resume Landmark Conference action when they host Susquehanna at F.M. Kirby Pool at 1:00 p.m.
