MADISON, N.J. (November 2, 2013) – The Drew University men's swim team fell to Mount Saint Mary's College (1-0) by the score of 129-107 in today's home opener at F.M. Kirby Pool. The Rangers slip to 0-2 on the season.
Freshman
Logan Amodio (Wayne, N.J./DePaul Catholic) won a meet-high three events in his second collegiate meet. The first-year swimmer won the 200 butterfly, the 200 breaststroke and the 200 individual medley. His 200 fly time of 2:10.55 was the fifth best time in the Landmark Conference this season. He turned in a time of 2:29.50 in the 200 breastroke, also a top-10 time in the Landmark this season.
Senior
Thomas DiGuglielmo (Norwalk, Conn./Norwalk) placed first in the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:06.36. Sophomore
Mark Berns (Short Hills, N.J./Millburn) won his first race of the season, touching the wall first in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:59.63.
The Rangers opened the meet with a win in the 200 medley relay. Senior
Austin Goetjen (Simsbury, Conn./Avon Old Farms School), DiGuglielmo, Amodio and freshman
Christopher Worden (Brewer, Maine/Brewer) combined for the win with a time of 1:48.72.
The Rangers will swim in a pair of meets next weekend beginning on Friday night at Montclair St. On Saturday Drew will be back home to host Marywood at 1:00 p.m.
