With one out and runners on second and third, Forcelini lined ball right up the middle, scoring both runs and gave the Cyclones a 4-3 lead. Centenary tacked on another run with on bloop single to center by Kevin Litus, giving the home team a 5-3 advantage after two innings.
Sophomore
Matthew Hunter (Forest Hill, N.Y./Archbishop Molloy) came on in relief in the middle of the second, throwing six and a third innings and striking out four batters.
The Rangers knotted the game up in the top of the sixth inning when
Matthew Kaplon (Palisades Park, N.J./Palisades Park) slid home safely on a passed ball. Two batters prior, senior
Justin Mancini (Haskell, N.J./Lakeland Regional) recorded his seventh RBI on the season with an RBI single to right.
After holding the Cyclones scoreless for five-straight innings, Forcellini would once again come up with runners in scoring position, this time in the bottom half of the eighth . He drove a two-out, fastball deep into the gap in right for a triple, scoring the go-ahead run. The next batter Dave Raifsnider brought him in on a sacrifice to center to make the score 7-5.
Centenary closer Chad Frankenfield sat the Rangers down 1-2-3 in the top of the ninth inning, earning his second save of the season. Seven pitchers took the mound for the Cyclones with Dylan Kemmerer getting credit for the win after tossing two scoreless innings.
Forcellini finished the afternoon, going 3-for-5 with four RBIs and home run. He fell a double shy of the cycle and is now batting .377 on the season.
For the Rangers, Krause continued his hot-hitting going 2-for-3 with an RBI and a run scored. It was his fourth multiple hit game in six starts.
