Box Score 2 SCRANTON, Pa. (April 2, 2013) – The Rangers dropped both games in a Landmark Conference doubleheader against Scranton today. The Royals won a 10-8 slugfest in game one and held the Rangers to just four hits in 10-2 victory in game two.
The Royals, who played in their first game in almost a month, improve their record to 4-4 and 2-0 in the Landmark Conference. The Rangers even their record to 10-10 on the season and drop to 2-4 against Landmark Conference opponents.
Game 1
With one swing in the bottom of the first inning, Caitlin McHenry put the Royals up 3-0 on the three-run homer to right field.
The Rangers responded by plating four runners in their next turn at the plate. Drew took advantage of three Royal miscues and only recorded one hit in the frame. Drew added to its lead in the fourth and fifth inning.
Rebecca Hutsebaut (Vernon, N.J./Vernon Twp.) scored on an error by the center fielder in the fourth and
Lexie Forsell (West Windsor, N.J./West Windsor-Plainsboro) recorded an RBI groundout to put the Rangers up 7-4.
The Royals once again used the long ball to put runs on the scoreboard in the bottom of the fifth. With two runners on, Jamie Shackles belted the Royals second home run of the game and tied the score at seven.
Scranton took the lead in their next turn at the plate, scoring three runs on two hits and a Ranger error in the sixth.
Game 2
The Royals used a five-run third inning to capture the nightcap in five innings, 10-2. The third Royal home run of the afternoon was hit by Jacquelyn Rossi scoring three of the two of the five runs in the third inning.
Scranton pitcher Jamie Hampsey held the Rangers to just four hits and struck out four batters to earn her second win of the season.

Kate McNamara (Levittown, N.Y./MacArthur) drove in the second Rangers run on an RBI double to left field that scored
Jeramie Barletta (Madison, N.J./Madison).
The Rangers will be back in action on Thursday when they travel to Ramapo College for doubleheader with the Roadrunners. Game one is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
