MADISON, N.J. (September 17, 2013) – The Drew University women's soccer team put together another second half comeback to defeat Manhattanville (2-5) by score of 3-1 this evening at Ranger Stadium. All three of the Rangers goals came in the second half, helping Drew improve to 5-1 on the season.

The lone first half goal came from the Valiants in the 35th minute. Sophomore Christie DeMarco put Manhattanville up 1-0 after taking the ball away from a Drew defender and placing her second goal of the season into the back of the net. The goal was the second of only two shots by the Valiants in the first half of play.

For the second-straight game, the Ranger offense ignited in the second half. Junior Katie O'Keefe (Shamong, N.J./Seneca) ripped a shot off a Liz Loiodice (Forest Hill, Md./John Carroll) pass from the top of the box that found the top right corner of the net. The goal was the midfielder's second of the season and 20th of her career.

Loidice scored the eventual game-winner a little under nine minutes later. Senior Caroline Kuras (Allamuchy, N.J./Pope John XXIII) played perfect lead ball down the right sideline that Emma Campbell (Cresskill, N.J./Cresskill) was able to run down. Campbell then served a perfect ball to a waiting Loiodice right in front of the net. Campbell put the game out of reach in the 76th minute, when she beat the Valiant keeper on a one-on-one situation, making the score 3-1.

Loiodice and Campbell, who lead the team in goals, are now tied for the second most goals in the Landmark Conference with five.

The Ranger defense held Manhattanville just three shots on the game, making it a slow day for their two Drew goalkeepers. Freshman Andee Higgins (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro) was credited with her second win after being inserted in the second half.  Sophomore Sara Nash (Kingston, Wash./Kingston) made the lone save of the night.

Drew will look for their fourth-straight win on Saturday when they take on Mary Washington in the first ever meeting between the two schools. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m. in Ranger Stadium.
