Rangers Capture Second Conference Win Soaring Passed Eagles

Box Score Huntingdon, Pa. (January 18, 2014) – The Drew University Women's Basketball (9-6, 2-2) team defeated Juniata (7-8, 0-4), 67-62 this afternoon capturing their second Landmark Conference victory. The Rangers now sit in the fourth spot in the conference standings.

Freshman guard Hannah Miller (Rumson, N.J./Rumson-Fair Haven) scored a game-high 22 points and grabbed five rebounds for the Rangers in the victory. Junior Breana Wilson (Irvington, N.J./Berkshire School) added 14 points, dropped six assists and played all 40 minutes for the Rangers.

The Rangers and Eagles saw 10 ties and seven lead changes in the first half. The teams traded baskets in the first half with neither team experiencing a lead of greater than three points. Trailing 18-16 with 7:31 left to play in the first half, Miller hit back-to-back three pointers to give the Rangers a 22-18 lead. The Rangers outscored the Eagles 18-14 in the final six minutes of the first half to take a 34-32 lead into the half.

Drew started the second half on an 8-0 run building their lead to 42-32. The Rangers would never look back as they continued their hot shooting in the second half. Drew never trailed in the second half. Juniata would cut the Ranger lead to one, 63-62, with :38 seconds left to play. Wilson scored four of her 14 points in the final :38 seconds from the free throw line closing out the game for Drew. The Rangers only trailed for eight minutes in the entire game.

Juniata junior guard Kelsey Livoti lead the Eagles with 13 points. Ranger sophomore Courtney Stephens (Pikeville, Md./Gerstell Academy) recorded her second double-double of the season tallying 11 points and tying a career-high grabbing 14 rebounds.

The Rangers continue Landmark conference play with a road game on Wednesday January 22 at 7:00 p.m. against Scranton.
