Box Score MADISON, N.J. (Oct. 22, 2014) – The Drew University women's soccer team fell in overtime, 3-2, to Rutgers-Newark on a blustery and rainy Wednesday afternoon in non-conference action at Ranger Stadium.
The Scarlet Raiders (11-5-2) erased a 2-1 deficit in the second half before scoring the Golden Goal 2:07 into overtime. The equalizer came in the 67
th minute after the rain picked up intensity in the second half.
Junior midfielder
Mel Santos put Drew on the board in the 23
rd minute before the Rangers (5-9) took a 2-1 lead on a Scarlet Raiders own goal.
One minute and 28 seconds into the game, Rutgers-Newark got on the board with a short cross in front of the goalmouth and beat senior goalkeeper
Sara Nash on her left side.
At 22:58, junior captain
Emma Campbell beat the defender on the goal line extended on the left side and crossed a ball into the 18-yard box. The ball bounced around between the Rangers and Scarlet Raiders until Santos got a touch on the ball and hit it into the right side netting to tie the score 1-1.
