Rangers Drop Conference Game to Susquehanna

Box Score Selinsgrove, Pa. (February 1, 2014) – The Drew women's basketball team (11-8, 4-4) fell to Susquehanna (10-8, 4-4), 62-43 this afternoon in a Landmark Conference contest. The Rangers and Crusaders are tied for fourth in the league.

Junior guard Breana Wilson (Irvington, N.J./Berkshire School (Mass.)) continued her scoring streak, as she led the Rangers scoring 16 points in the loss. Wilson was 7-16 from the field and was the only Ranger in double figures. Senior Logan Cavanaugh (Rutland, Vt./Burr And Burton Academy) scored nine points in 23 minutes of action for Drew.

Susquehanna opened the game with a 12-1 run over the first six minutes. The Rangers cut the Crusader lead to five with just under 10 minutes left in the half, but would get no closer for the rest of the game. Wilson scored seven of her team-high 16 in the first half. Susquehanna took a 25-18 lead to the locker room at the end of the first half.

The Crusaders opened the half with a lay-up from Nicole Gault, increasing the lead over Drew to nine. The two teams would trade possessions for the rest of the game with the Crusaders outscoring the Rangers 35-25. Wilson scored the team's final nine points of the game.

Sophomores Courtney Stephens (Pikesville, Md./Gerstell Academy) and Erin Howard (Tolland, Conn./East Catholic) combined for eight points, 14 rebounds, four assists and four blocks for the Rangers in the loss.

The Rangers continue conference play as they travel back to Pennsylvania for a rematch with Moravian on Wednesday February 5 at 7:00 p.m.
