Tigers Roar Passed Rangers

Box Score Los Angeles, Calif. (March 10, 2014) – The Drew University baseball team (0-2) suffered its second loss in as many days to Occidental College (8-8), 8-0 on their spring break road trip in California. Occidental scored five runs in the home half of the first inning.

The Tigers scored five runs on four hits in the first inning. Victor Munoz drove home the Tigers first run of the game with a single to left field that plated Johnathan Brooks. The Tigers scored three more runs in the eighth to take an, 8-0 lead they wouldn't surrender.

Tigers freshman pitcher Nolan Watson picked up his first win of the season, throwing six innings surrendering only one hit on the day, while striking out six Ranger batters.

Senior Alex Taylor (North Brunswick, N.J./North Brunswick) made his first start of the season for the Rangers. Taylor went four innings for Drew surrendering eight hits striking out one batter. Jon Vilicich (Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif./Loyola) pitched three innings in relief for Drew. In three innings the Ranger pitcher held the Tiger offense hitless while striking out three batters. Junior center fielder Al Krause (Seacaucus, N.J./Seacaucus) recorded the Lone Ranger hit on the day.

The Rangers continue their spring break road trip tomorrow March 11, at 2:30 p.m. in a non-conference clash with Whittier College.
