Box Score 2 Bethlehem, Pa. (March 21, 2014) – The Drew University baseball team (3-4), split the first doubleheader of Landmark Conference play with Moravian (7-4) this afternoon. The Rangers won game one 2-1 and dropped game two 10-0.
Junior
Steve Kowalski (Robbinsville, N.J./Robbinsville) finished the two game series batting 2-for-5 with a RBI. Kowalski was the only Ranger with multiple hits on the day. Sophomore
Mike Klinger (Franklin Park, N.J./Rutgers Preparatory School) also finished the day 2-for-5. Klinger was the only Ranger to record a hit in both games.
With one out in the bottom of the first Moravian's Ryan Luke double down the left field line. The next batter, Matt Hanson singled up the middle to score Luke and giving Moravian a 1-0 first inning lead. It would be the lone Greyhound run in the game. Matt Kaplon (Palisades Park, N.J./Palisades Park) who led-off the inning drawing a walk. Two batters later sophomore
Bobby Miskura (Rutherford, N.J./Rutherford) drove in the eventual game-winning run with a sacrifice fly to center field.
The Greyhounds controlled game two holding the Rangers scoreless. Moravian scored eight runs in the home half of the third inning to take a 10-0. Sophomore Brett Wagner picked up his second win of the season for Moravian going seven innings, striking out three batters and holding the Rangers to only two hits in the game.
Dylan Baxter (Holmdel, N.J./Holmdel) made his second appearance of the season on the mound for the rangers in game one. The sophomore south-paw went seven innings, earning one run and striking out one Greyhound batter on the way to his second win of the season.
The Rangers return to action tomorrow, March 22 as they play host to Richard Stockton in a non-conference doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
