Seniors Honored as Rangers Fall to Blue Jays, 1-0

MADISON, N.J. (Oct. 24, 2015) – The Drew University women's soccer team celebrated the careers of eight Rangers on a Senior Day that saw them fall to Elizabethtown, 1-0, on Saturday afternoon in a Landmark Conference game.

Starting goalkeeper Sara Nash, midfielder Victoria Condon, forward Emma Campbell, midfielder Melanie Santos, forward Shannon Slowey, midfielder Allison Rastelli, defender Alexa Kogan, and midfielder Danielle Cowan received bouquets of flowers to recognize their special day with their families on the Ranger Stadium turf. The game was the last Ranger Stadium Landmark Conference tilt the women would play in Blue and Green.

The Rangers (7-9-1, 2-4) managed three shots, two of which came in the 66th minute. One came from Campbell and the other from freshman midfielder Caroline Kelly. The third came in the 80th minute from Kelly.

Nash and junior goaltender Andee Higgins combined for nine saves on the day.

The Blue Jays (10-5-1, 5-1) scored the lone goal of the contest when a forward shifted to her left to elude a charging defender in the box. She then calmly capitalized on the one-on-one opportunity she earned and converted the try. The goal came in the 58th minute and gave Elizabethtown a 1-0 lead that they wouldn't relinquish.

With one Landmark Conference game remaining on the schedule, the Rangers find themselves a half game out of playoff contention. The team they trail -- Moravian College -- is the team Drew will face on the road on Saturday, Oct. 31st at 3:30 p.m. The game projects to be a "win-and-in" scenario for the Rangers.

Prefacing the final Landmark Conference game of the year is the Battle of Madison Avenue against FDU-Florham. The Rangers' last home game is slated for a 7:00 p.m. start on Tuesday, Oct. 27th.
