, 2015) – The Drew University men's lacrosse team succumbed to a second-half Catholic scoring binge that brought a previously close contest to a 14-7 loss on Saturday afternoon.
Junior midfielder
Steven Cola put together his first career hat trick with a goal in the second quarter and two in the fourth. Reigning ECAC Division III Mid-Atlantic Rookie of the Week
Harry Rice opened the scoring for Drew (2-9, 0-5) with his team-leading 24
th goal of the year.
Cola and freshman attacker
Charles Maynard scored within 30 seconds of each other, giving Drew a 3-2 lead, its only one of the day. The goals came within the first minute of the second quarter. Maynard's score was the second of his career.
The teams exchanged goals all throughout the first half of play. Sophomore defender
Michael Lloyd tied the score at 4 with just 30 seconds to play in the first half. After he collected a juicy ground ball right in front of the goalmouth.
The second half belonged to the Cardinals (8-4, 3-2) as they scored nine times before the Rangers finally answered.
The Rangers will travel to Kings Point, N.Y. for their final road game of the year, a Landmark Conference game with the United States Merchant Marine Academy on Saturday, April 18
th at 2:00 p.m.
