Hammer Ends Wild Win Over DeSales With Golden Goal

MADISON, N.J. (Sept. 10, 2016) — A sharp feed from freshman forward Andy Imoh found the foot of senior midfielder Dylan Hammer to clinch a 4-3 overtime victory for the Drew University Men's Soccer team over DeSales University on Saturday night at Ranger Stadium.

Top Performers: Hammer was all over the place on the night, tallying an assist and a team high four shots in addition to the evening's golden goal.

Imoh scored as well, with a penalty kick goal in the 80th minute that tied the score at 3.

Also contributing were senior midfielder Joe Sollod and sophomore midfielder Anthony McMyne, who scored goals of their own.

Turning Point: Imoh and Hammer connected on the winning score in the 97th minute after Imoh shook a defender and wiggled into the box. He found a streaking Hammer who calmly collected the ground cross and finished the game-winner, right before being mobbed by his teammates.

Other Highlights: Drew equalized DeSales' first score in the 15th minute when Hammer sent a lead pass on the ground to his roommate, Sollod. Sollod dribbled once and used a sharp ground shot to beat the keeper back corner and draw the Rangers even at 1-1 early in the first half.

The Rangers took their first lead of the night in the 26th minute. Sophomore midfielder Max Correa sent a long free kick into the box. McMyne tracked it down and emerged from a crowded field to flick a header into the net.

Imoh's penalty kick would be the last goal scored before Hammer's game winner seven minutes into OT.

Up Next: Following this exciting victory, Drew embarks on a two-game road trip starting on Wednesday, Sept. 14th at Muhlenberg College at 7:00 p.m.
