MADISON, N.J. (Sept. 10, 2016) — The Drew University women's soccer team tied, 1-1, on Saturday afternoon with Rutgers-Camden in a double-overtime showdown.
Top Performers: Sophomore midfielder
Caroline Kelly scored the Rangers lone goal and took a team-high 6 shots. Senior goalie
Ryan Jackson made five saves including some pivotal breakaway stops in overtime, allowing no goals.
Turning Point: With Rutgers-Camden leading 1-0, junior midfielder
Erin Connors arranged for a free kick a couple feet from the box. She sent in a curving ball that rang the crossbar and shot straight down. For a moment, everyone froze before several players pounced. Junior midfielder
Katie Weber flicked at the bouncing ball and was turned away by the goalie, but Kelly exploded on the juicy rebound and buried the tying goal. The score stood at 1-1 with 25 minutes to go.
Other Highlights: Rutgers-Camden opened the scoring in the 20
th minute on a long feed in that bounced past the goalie and got cleaned up on the goal line.
