Stockton Stops Women's Soccer With Strong 2nd Half

MADISON, N.J. (Sept. 11, 2016) – Following a scoreless first half at Ranger Stadium, Stockton University exploded for four goals to defeat the Drew University women's soccer team, 4-1, in Sunday's Fall Festival finale.

By the Numbers: The Ospreys improve to 4-1 after their 1-1 run in the Fall Fest Tournament, while Drew falls to 2-2-1 on the season. The Rangers went 0-1-1 in their tournament that saw 400 minutes of action on the turf at Ranger Stadium.

Top Performers: Junior midfielder Erin Connors scored her second goal of the season as a bit of redemption in the 89th minute with the Rangers down 4-0. Connors created her own space just outside of the 18-yard box and cracked a shot past the goalkeeper into the top-right portion of the net. The junior took one of three Drew shots on goal.

Turning Point: Three saves by Drew senior goalkeeper Ryan Jackson and an assist from the post kept this game scoreless heading into the intermission. The Ospreys finally broke through in the 59th minute before the floodgates opened. Stocked tacked on goals 66th, 83rd and 86th minutes to all but seal the deal.

Other Highlights: Junior midfielder Katie Weber helped keep the game scoreless early in the second half by blocking a shot off the goal line. Without Weber's positioning, Stockton's first goal would have come earlier in the game.

Stat Sheet: Stockton outshot the Rangers 19-4 on Sunday, with 10 of those shots on goal. Jackson finished with six saves. The Ospreys took six corner kicks to Drew's one, and just one offside call was whistled during the game, going against Stockton.

Up Next: The Rangers take the week off before returning to Ranger Stadium to host Delaware Valley University in non-conference action on Saturday, Sept. 17 at 1:00 p.m.
