HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. (Sept. 3, 2016) — A shutout and a couple of scores propelled the Drew University women's soccer team to its first victory of 2016, as they defeated The University of Massachusetts Boston, in a defensive 2-0 game.
Top Performers: Senior goaltender
Ryan Jackson faced 11 shots, saving five of them. The performance was her first career shutout.
Turning Point: Sophomore midfielder
Caroline Kelly opened the scoring. In the 25
th minute she reclaimed a rebound off a shot from junior midfielder
Erin Connors. She transferred her weight, fired on net and beat the goalie. Kelly nabbed the fourth goal of her career and the lead for Drew.
Other Highlights: Senior forward
Dani Millick powered a long cross into the 18-yard box that found freshman forward
Jessica Meagher. The ball was then passed on to freshman forward
Sarah Burcaw who netted the second goal, the first of her collegiate career.
Stat Sheet: The Rangers outscored UMass 14-11 with Kelly ripping a team-high five. Drew also tried five corner kicks to their opponent's one.
