MADISON, N.J. (Sept. 4, 2016) — An offensive onslaught that saw two Rangers log multi-goal games ended with the Drew University men's soccer team topping the College of Mount St. Vincent, 6-1, and earning second place in this year's Fall Fest tournament.
Top Performers: Senior midfielder
Cole Leckburg scored and assisted. Freshman forward
Andy Imoh scored the first two goals of his career and sophomore midfielder
Zach Lipshitz scored twice as well.
Turning Point: Leckburg threaded the needle and curved in the Rangers' first goal of the game eight minutes in. The snipe came following a blocked shot off the foot of senior forward
Sebastien Etta-Ashu. Leckburg needed just one touch to set himself for the game's first score and his second goal in as many days.
Drew played with intense confidence, fast pace, and crackling energy.
Other Highlights: With 15 minutes to go, Lipshitz used a Leckburg lead to spark a smack that eluded the keeper and gave Drew a 2-1 lead.
Shortly after the second goal, a corner kick got jumbled in the box where sophomore midfielder
Max Correa used a soft touch to get it to Imoh who followed with a tap through the fray and into the net to make it 3-1. The score was the first of Imoh's career.
To get it to 4-1, Imoh leapt to pull down a lofty cross. He then settled with plenty of time and popped home the second goal of the day.
Still in the first half, the Ranger lead grew to 5-1 thanks to Lipshitz, who powered a "why not" shot from 40 yards out. The score was the third goal in two games for him.
The 6-1 score came off the foot of junior forward
Harrison Gassert, who, with the help of junior forward
Dan Cossu, netted his first career goal.
Drew tried 25 shots on the contest to the Dolphins' eight.
Up Next: Fall Fest is over but the Rangers are at home for their next game against DeSales University. It will take place on Saturday, September 10
