#20 Drew Tops Kean 3-1 In Non-Conference Finale

UNION, N.J. - The Drew University men's soccer team concluded non-conference play with a matchup at Kean on Wednesday night.  The game was tied 1-1 at halftime, but the 20th-ranked Rangers (15-0-1) scored twice in the second half to notch a 3-1 victory over the Cougars (8-6-1) at Kean Alumni Stadium.  The win was Drew's 12th straight, which equals the second-longest active streak in the nation.

Kean got on the board first, as Brandon Gomez gave the Cougars a 1-0 lead in the 16th minute.  However, Aidan Cserhat (Taos, N.M.) tied the game with a beautiful header in the 24th minute.  The Rangers took the lead shortly after halftime when Alexi Velazquez (Kearny, N.J.) put in a cross from Cole Bosch (Fair Lawn, N.J.).  Andy Imoh (Sugar Land, Texas) then added an insurance tally in the 64th minute to secure the 3-1 victory.

Cserhat's goal was his league-leading 17th of the season.  Imoh, meanwhile, scored for the third time in two games, and Velazquez notched his fifth tally of the year.  Max Correa (Belleville, N.J.) was credited with two assists, his sixth and seventh this season, in the win.  Jason Adamo (Roxbury, N.J.) (15-0-1) made a pair of saves.

Derek Phells (4-1-0) recorded three saves for Kean, as the Rangers outshot the Cougars 13-6.  Drew also held a 6-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Drew (5-0-0 Landmark) visits Catholic (5-6-4, 3-1-1 Landmark) at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday for its final road game of the season.  The Rangers will clinch the Landmark Conference regular season title with a win or tie against the Cardinals.
