#20 Drew Clinches Top Seed In Landmark Conference Tournament

WASHINGTON – In its final road game of the regular season, the Drew University men's soccer team guaranteed that it won't have to leave home again.  The 20th-ranked Rangers (16-0-1, 6-0-0 Landmark) clinched first place in the Landmark Conference and earned home field throughout the Landmark Tournament with a 1-0 victory over Catholic (5-7-4, 3-2-1 Landmark) at Cardinal Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Needing just a tie to secure their first regular season conference title since 2009, the Rangers notched their 13th consecutive win, which is tied for the longest streak in the nation.  The victory also ensured the second perfect road record in program history.  Drew went 9-0-1 away from home in 2011.

Andy Imoh (Sugar Land, Texas) produced the game's only goal off an assist from Benjamin Audi (Paramus, N.J.) in the 65th minute.  Catholic had a few scoring chances over the final 25 minutes, but the Drew defense held for its ninth shutout (and first 1-0 victory) of the season.

The Rangers were outshot 12-9, marking just the second time this season Drew had fewer shots than its opponent.  However, Imoh's 10th goal of the year (and fourth in his last three games) and three saves by Jason Adamo (Roxbury, N.J.) (16-0-1) ensured the victory.  Catholic goalkeeper Zachery Tashjy (5-6-3) also recorded three saves.

Drew has one game remaining before the start of the Landmark Conference Tournament.  The Rangers host Goucher (6-6-4, 1-3-2 Landmark) at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
