WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. –
On Sunday afternoon, the Drew University men's soccer team (21-0-1) notched a 1-0 victory over Lycoming (19-3-0) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament at the Shangraw Athletic Complex.  Benjamin Audi (Paramus, N.J.) scored the only goal of the game in the 75th minute, as the Rangers recorded their 18th consecutive victory to tie the single-season program record for wins and advance to the round of 16 next weekend.

In a matchup of the seventh- and 12th-ranked teams in the country, it was the No. 7 Warriors who had the early chances.   However, Jason Adamo (Roxbury, N.J.) made four first-half saves to keep the game scoreless.  Drew nearly took the lead in the 23rd minute, but Anthony McMyne's (Succasunna, N.J.) header was handled by Lycoming goalkeeper Chris Solecki.

After peppering Solecki with shots early in the second half, the Rangers finally broke the deadlock with 15 minutes remaining.  Lycoming was called for a foul just outside the box, giving Drew a direct free kick from roughly 20 yards out.  Audi lined up to take it, and he curled it into the lower left corner for his third goal of the season.

Aidan Cserhat (Taos, N.M.) nearly made it 2-0 in the 86th minute, when he had a shot hit the crossbar, then the rebound was kept out of the net by the Lycoming defense.  In the final minute, Max Correa's (Belleville, N.J.) attempt bounced off the bottom of the crossbar and Cserhat's rebound sailed high, giving the Warriors one last chance to tie the game.  However, Lycoming was unable to get a shot off and Drew remained unbeaten.

It was the Rangers' second 1-0 victory of the season, as Adamo (21-0-1) was credited with his 11th shutout.  He tallied four saves.  Solecki (19-3-0) stopped seven Drew shots.

Drew will face Brandeis (15-4-0) in the third round at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday from Tufts University's Bello Field.  The winner advances to take on either Johns Hopkins (16-1-3) or the host Jumbos (15-1-3) at 1 p.m. on Sunday for a spot in the Final Four.
