Game Recap: Men's Basketball |

Rangers Win Fourth Straight, 94-80 Over Saint Elizabeth

HACKETTSTOWN, N.J. – After playing seven straight games at home, the Drew University men's basketball team hit the road for the first time since the season opener on Sunday afternoon.  The change of scenery proved to be no problem for the Rangers, though, as Drew (6-3) scored 90 points for the fourth consecutive time and earned its fourth win in a row, 94-80, over Saint Elizabeth (2-7) at Saint Joseph Hall.

Drew took control from the start, scoring a three-pointer on its opening possession and building a 10-point lead barely five minutes into the game.  After Saint Elizabeth got back within seven at 19-12, the Rangers countered with a 10-4 run to push its advantage to 13 points, 29-16, midway through the first half.  The Eagles again cut the margin to seven, 29-22, but Drew once again responded, tallying eight straight points to make it 37-22 with 5:38 left in the half.  The lead was 14 points, 47-33, at the break.

The Eagles trimmed their deficit to nine, 52-43, early in the second half, but Drew scored 16 of the next 19 points to open up its largest lead of the game, 68-46, with 11:41 remaining.  Saint Elizabeth rallied back, though, pulling within eight at 80-72 with 4:06 to go.  However, Yonathan Napoleon (Los Angeles, Calif.) hit a trey, then drained a pair of foul shots to bring the margin back to 13 points, 85-72, at the 3:11 mark.  The Rangers increased the cushion to 16 points at 94-78 on a pair of Dan Roibal (Middletown, N.J.) free throws with 33 seconds left, and Drew won by a 94-80 count.

Nate Aldrich (Franklinville, N.J.) posted game-highs with 22 points and 12 rebounds for his third straight double-double.  He also had three assists and two steals.  Napoleon finished with 21 points and three assists, while Sky Harris (Edison, N.J.) had 15 points off the bench.  Darius Reiter (Littleton, Colo.) added 11 points, and Riley Collins (Lacey, N.J.) tallied eight points to go along with five rebounds and five assists.  The Rangers outrebounded the Eagles 42-27 and shot 52.4 percent (33-of-63) from the field.  Drew went 10-for-26 (38.5 percent) from long range and 18-for-22 (81.8 percent) at the free throw line.

Cam Tucker led the Eagles with 20 points and seven assists.  Tino Gonzalez contributed 11 points, four assists and four rebounds, while Ty'ier Grier also tallied 11 points.  Roy Bond, meanwhile, had eight points and four boards for Saint Elizabeth.  The Eagles shot 44.4 percent (28-of-63) from the floor, 40.9 percent (9-of-22) from three-point land, and 71.4 percent (15-of-21) at the charity stripe.

On Saturday, the Rangers continue their five-game road trip with a 3 p.m. matchup at Rutgers-Newark (3-6).
