Men's Basketball Playoff Chances Take a Hit at Scranton

SCRANTON, Pa. (Feb. 8, 2017) - The Drew University men's basketball team fell to The University of Scranton, 82-68, on Wednesday night as Landmark Conference play begins to wind down.

By The Numbers: The Royals improve their overall record to 17-5 with an 9-2 record in the Landmark Conference. The Rangers drop to 11-11 on the year with a 5-6 conference mark with just three games remaining.

Top Performers: Sophomore guard Darius Reiter collected 13 points along with three 3 field goals. Freshman guard Riley Collins led all Drew scorers with 15 points off an efficient 5-of-10 shooting. Junior forward Blaine Taylor collected eight points, while sophomore forward Nate Aldrich pulled down six rebounds and added six points for the Rangers.

Turning Point: The Royals had a very strong first half coming into the locker room with a 14 point lead. The Rangers made several valiant attempts to even the game but the halftime lead was too much. The Royals defense caused problems for the Drew offense, forcing double-digit turnovers in the first half alone.

Stat Sheet: The Royals collected 48 points in the point to Drew's 24. The rebounding battle was very close with Drew pulling down 29 compared to Scranton's 31. The Royals scored 31 points with their bench players as opposed to Drew's 15 bench points. Drew tied its season-high with 18 turnovers.

Up Next: The Rangers continue Landmark Conference play on Saturday, Feb. 11 at No. 19 Susquehanna University with tipoff scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
