Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Rangers Roll Past Old Westbury, 5-0

OLD WESTBURY, N.Y. -  On Wednesday afternoon, the Drew University women's soccer team (4-2-0) posted a dominant victory over Old Westbury (1-3-0) at Panther Park.  The Rangers scored 66 seconds into the game and never looked back, adding four more tallies in a 5-0 triumph that was called after 80 minutes due to thunderstorms.

Sarah Racine (Denville, N.J.) got the scoring started when she took a feed from Meghan McDermott (Commack, N.Y.) and put it into the back of the net.  McDermott recorded a goal of her own in the 13th minute, then picked up another assist on Leah Dentale's (Northport, N.Y.) tally in the 20th minute.  Erin Connors (Fanwood, N.J.) also assisted on the Dentale goal, one of her two assists in the contest.

In the 63rd minute, Connors set up Lauren Cassella (Edison, N.J.), who beat the Old Westbury goalkeeper on a breakaway for her first career goal.  Lauren DeLillo (Kings Park, N.Y.) then capped the scoring in the 74th minute when she blasted a feed from Olivia Slingerland (Latham, N.Y.) past the keeper.  The rain picked up as play wore on, and with the conditions intensifying, the officials made the decision to end the contest with 10 minutes remaining.

Drew outshot Old Westbury 31-1 and had an 8-1 edge in corner kicks.  McDermott tallied four points with a goal and two assists, while Connors distributed a pair of assists.  Madison Dudziec (Stanhope, N.J.) (2-2-0) got the start in goal and earned the win.  Brielle Castanheira (Roxbury, N.J.) and Nicole Fallon (Middlesex, N.J.) split the goalkeeping duties in the second half.

Old Westbury's starting goalkeeper Alexa Higgins (0-3-0) made seven saves in the first half.  Mary Clark played the second half and stopped six Drew shots.

The Rangers hit the road again on Saturday, when they visit Delaware Valley (1-3-1) for a 1 p.m. matchup.
