Offense Erupts In 7-2 Win at Delaware Valley

DOYLESTOWN, Pa. -  After putting five goals on the board in its victory at Old Westbury on Wednesday, the Drew University women's soccer team matched that total in the first half of Saturday's game at Delaware Valley.  The Rangers (4-2-0) added two more in the second half to notch a 7-2 victory over the Aggies (1-4-1) and extend their winning streak to three straight.

Drew's offense got going almost immediately, as Alex Gilgorri (Mount Plains, N.J.) found the back of the net less than three minutes into the contest.  Sarah Racine (Denville, N.J.) made it 2-0 off a pass from Gilgorri in the fifth minute, then scored again in the 23rd minute to increase the Rangers' advantage to 3-0.  Alexa Simon (Farmingdale, N.Y.) and Alexa Fitzgerald (Little Falls, N.J.) registered tallies late in the period to give Drew a 5-0 lead at halftime.

Jenna Chierchio (Staten Island, N.Y.) put in a loose ball at the 63-minute mark before an unassisted tally by Jessica Cortez (East Brunswick, N.J.) five minutes later opened up a 7-0 cushion.  A penalty kick by Kylie Williams got Delaware Valley on the scoreboard, and she found the back of the net again in the 90th minute to cut the final margin to 7-2.

Racine finished with two goals, while Gilgorri also had a multi-point day with a goal and an assist.  Madison Dudziec (Stanhope, N.J.) (3-2-0) got the start in goal and earned the win.  She made three saves.  Brielle Castanheira (Roxbury, N.J.) stopped two shots, and Nicole Fallon (Middlesex, N.J.) recorded one save.

Haley Young (1-4-1) tallied nine saves for the Aggies, as Drew outshot Delaware Valley 24-11.

The Rangers will now have a week off before the start of conference play.  Drew (0-0-0 Landmark) host Elizabethtown (3-1-1, 0-0-0 Landmark) next Saturday at 1 p.m.
