Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rangers Rally For Double-Overtime Win

EWING, N.J. -  For the second straight outing, the Drew University men's soccer team used a little late-game magic to remain unbeaten.  After falling behind 1-0, the Rangers got an equalizer from Aidan Cserhat (Taos, N.M.) in the 80th minute before Greg Swenson (East Lyme, Conn.) scored in double overtime to give Drew (7-0-1) a 2-1 victory over The College of New Jersey (4-4-0) at Lions Stadium on Wednesday night.  The Rangers, the winners of four straight, are off to their best start since opening 8-0-0 in 2001.

After a scoreless first half, TCNJ took the lead on an own goal by the Drew defense in the 67th minute.  It would remain that way until the 80th minute, when the Rangers were awarded a penalty kick.  Cserhat's initial attempt was saved, but the rebound went right back to him, and he put it in for his league-leading 10th goal of the season.

Anthony McMyne (Succasunna, N.J.) looked like he might win it for Drew in the first overtime, but his blast from 25 yards out was stopped by TCNJ goalkeeper Michael Kayal.  McMyne had another attempt blocked early in the second extra session, and Swenson corralled the loose ball in front before putting it by Kayal for the game-winner.

The Rangers outshot the Lions 17-10, including a 5-1 advantage in the overtime periods.  Jason Adamo (Roxbury, N.J.) (7-0-1) made two saves, and the only goal he allowed was an own goal.  Kayal (4-4-0) registered six saves for TCNJ.

Drew (0-0-0 Landmark) plays five of its next six games at home, starting with the Landmark Conference opener against Elizabethtown (5-2-0, 0-0-0 Landmark) at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
