Drew Topples Goucher, Cedar Crest On Senior Day

MADISON, N.J. –
Seniors Crystal Caragine (Cape Girardeau, Mo.), Alli Keith (Sanbornthon, N.H.), Jenny Stein (Calabasas, Calif.), Mack Fox (Randolph, N.J.) and Mitchell Fry (Canton, Conn.) were honored prior to the Drew University swimming & diving team's final home meet of the season on Saturday afternoon.  The Rangers then made sure to send the Class of 2018 out on top, as both the men's and women's squads defeated Goucher.  The men earned a 115-64 triumph, while the women won beat the Gophers by a 118-83 count.  Drew's women also went against Cedar Crest, notching a 122-63 victory.
 
Fox and Stein each closed out their home career with two event victories.  Fox took first in the men's 1650 yard freestyle (17:54.11) and 500 yard freestyle (5:18.64), while Stein won both women's sprints.  She registered a 25.66-second clocking in the 50 yard freestyle and swam the 100 yard freestyle in 56.06 seconds.
 
Mal Vishwanath (Bangalore, India) also won a pair of events on the women's side.  Her time of 17:57.23 in the 1650 freestyle was nearly two minutes faster than the second-place finisher.  She later took first in the 200 yard butterfly with a 2:14.36 clocking.  Stephanie Cushman (Brick, N.J.), meanwhile, placed first in both the 200 yard individual medley (2:21.65) and 200 yard backstroke (2:13.29).  In addition, Cushman joined with Katie Jefferson (Kamuela, Hawaii), Kate Circus (Mount Laurel, N.J.) and Jamie Riffel (New Providence, N.J.) to place first in the 400 yard medley relay (4:25.30).
 
Individually, Jefferson was first in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 2:06.03.  Audrey Keliehor (Wilton, Conn.) was Drew's final event winner on the women's side.  She posted a 5:51.71 clocking in the 500 yard freestyle.
 
On the men's side, Jack Mahoney (Erie, Pa.) led a 1-2-3 finish in the 50 freestyle, notching a winning time of 22.60 seconds.  He also won the 100 freestyle (49.76) and anchored the 400 medley relay team to victory.  Matheus Macena (Sao Paulo, Brazil), Michael Ma (Redwood City, Calif.), Ryan Underwood (Etters, Pa.) and Mahoney finished in 3:44.12.
 
Ma added two individual wins, while Macena also earned an individual victory.  Ma took first in the 200 individual medley (2:02.66) and 200 yard breaststroke (2:17.61), and Macena's first-place clocking in the 200 yard backstroke was 2:06.02.  Alexandre Sannibale (South Pasadena, Calif.), meanwhile, notched a winning time of 1:53.55 in the 200 freestyle.
 
The Rangers conclude the regular season by visiting Ramapo next Saturday at 1 p.m.
