HOBOKEN, N.J. – The Drew University men's swimming team earned a trio of victories as it opened its 2018-19 season with a 134-71 loss at Stevens Institute of Technology Thursday evening.
Junior
Michael Ma, sophomore
Alexandre Sannibale, and freshman
Jacob Zajdzinski all captured a first- and a second-place finish to lead the Rangers. Ma won the 200-IM (1:59.60) and placed second in the 100-backstroke (54.45) while Sannibale touched first in the 500-freestyle (5:00.36) and was the runner-up in the 200-freestyle (1:51.83). Making his collegiate debut, Zajdzinski won the 50-freestyle in 22.40.
Junior
Jack Mahoney completed a 1-2 Drew finish in the 50-free trailing Zajdzinski in 22.61. Earning one third-place finish apiece were junior
Garrett Pilkington in the 1,000-freestyle (10:52.37), freshman
Josh Roberts in the 200-freestyle (1:52.24), and sophomore
Matheus Macena in the 100-butterfly (55.23).
The Rangers continue their season on Oct. 20, when they host Montclair State University in a dual meet.
