MADISON, N.J. –
The Drew University men's lacrosse team played its final home game of the season on Saturday afternoon at Ranger Stadium.  After honoring seniors Jack Crowley (Madison, N.J.), Devin Lyons (Hackettstown, N.J.), Charles Maynard (Madison, Conn.), Joe Palmieri (Guilford, Conn.) and Greg Swenson (East Lyme, Conn.) in a pregame ceremony, the Rangers (3-11, 0-5 Landmark) dropped a 9-5 decision to Goucher.

Seamus O'Connor (Portsmouth, R.I.) opened the scoring just 1:37 into the contest, but the Gophers held Drew off the board for the remainder of the first half and took a 5-1 lead into halftime.  Crowley and Lyons connected for a goal early in the third quarter before Goucher added a pair of tallies to extend its cushion to 7-2.

After Crowley and Ryan D'Alessandro (Glen Ridge, N.J.) scored to pull the Rangers within 7-4 midway through the fourth quarter, Goucher's Andrew Sade found the back of the net twice to again make it a five-goal margin at 9-4.  Kevin Goettlich (Florham Park, N.J.) then notched a late goal to close out the scoring in the Gophers' 9-5 victory.

Crowley and D'Alessandro each finished with a goal and an assist, while Palmieri went 13-for-18 on faceoffs and collected nine ground balls.  Swenson, meanwhile, picked up three ground balls for the Rangers.  Mike McGeeney (Annapolis, Md.) (0-3) made seven saves in net.

Four Goucher, Sade scored four times and Matt Woodson recorded five points on a goal and four assists.  Derek Bitzer added two goals, while Mason Gorman notched a goal and an assist.  Nick Patterson corralled a team-high four ground balls.  Jaryd Hartzell, meanwhile, caused three turnovers.  Goalkeeper Matt Messerle (9-6) stopped six Drew shots.

Next Saturday, Drew concludes the 2018 campaign with a 1 p.m. visit to Susquehanna (10-6, 4-1 Landmark).
