Centenary Upsets No. 12 Drew

MADISON, N.J. - Centenary scored in the 69th minute and the Cyclones upset the 12th-ranked Drew University men's soccer team 1-0 in the final match of the Drew Fall Festival Saturday afternoon in Ranger Stadium.

The Difference: Centenary's Josh Weiss found himself alone in the box and blasted a shot that deflected off the goalkeeper and into the net before a defender could clear it away. The Rangers had numerous chances to answer down the stretch but could manage just two shots on four corner kicks.

Other Key Moments: Drew thwarted a golden scoring opportunity in the 29th minute for the Cyclones, when Weiss got around the goalie but had his shot cleared away by sophomore defender Ryan LaRocca to keep the score deadlocked early on. The Rangers earned their final corner with just over a minute left but were called for a foul on the ensuing pass inside the box.

Top Performers: Junior goalie Jason Adamo made four saves to pace the Drew defense while sophomore Derrick Lobo placed a pair of shots on frame for the Rangers. Devon Warne made six saves to earn the shutout for Centenary.

By the Numbers: The Rangers outshot the Cyclones 15-8 and held an 11-0 advantage in corners. Centenary was whistled for 21 fouls and seven yellow cards while the Rangers were tagged for just 13 fouls and one card. The Cyclones snapped Drew's 13-match home winning streak, which dated back to 2016.

Up Next: Drew continues its three-game homestand to open the season when it faces cross-town rival FDU-Florham on Wednesday at 7 p.m. back at Ranger Stadium.
