Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Rangers Earn Road Win at Manhattanville

PURCHASE, N.Y. – Senior Alexi Velazquez scored the game-winning goal for the second match in a row and the Drew University men's soccer team edged Manhattanville University 2-1 in an evenly-played non-conference tilt Saturday afternoon. The victory marked win No. 350 at Drew for head coach Lenny Armuth, who ranks 11th among current Division III men's soccer coaches in career victories.

Turning Point: In the 59th minute, junior Matt Asante found a cutting Velazquez, who buried a shot into the upper right corner to break a 1-1 deadlock. Velazquez also netted a golden goal in Drew's 3-2 double-overtime victory at Muhlenberg College this past Wednesday and has now scored five goals for the year.

Early Goals: The Valiants took the lead just 5:02 into the contest, but the Rangers struck back less than a minute later. Senior Anthony McMyne sent in a cross from the left that was headed in by junior Aidan Cserhat for his team-leading sixth goal of the year.

Between the Pipes: Junior Jason Adamo finished with four saves for Drew, including a late stop in the 83rd minute to help preserve the lead.

Stats Sheet: The two sides registered nearly identical statistics, as each team attempted 10 shots and was whistled for 14 fouls. The Rangers held a 6-5 edge in corner kicks.

Next Up: The Rangers return home on Wednesday, when they host TCNJ at 7 p.m. in Ranger Stadium.
