MADISON, N.J. - The Drew University women's swimming & diving team won nine of 16 events, but Catholic University nipped the Rangers by a final of 145-142 in F.M. Kirby Pool on Saturday.
Leading the way for the Rangers were freshmen
Katie Cashin and senior
Mal Vishwanath, who won three individual events apiece for the second-straight meet to open the season. Cashin touched first in the 200-freestyle (2:00.19), the 100-butterfly (1:00.36), and the 200-IM (2:14.80). Vishwanath prevailed in the 100-freestyle (54.82), the 500-freestyle (5:28.40), and the 1,000-freestyle (10:59.18), winning by 11 seconds in the 500 and 35 seconds in the 1,000.
Sophomore
Mackenzie Garcia Hynds added a victory in the 50-freestyle (25.62), and she also took second in the 100-free (56.21) and the 200-IM (2:16.27). Also placing second were sophomores
Abby Shapiro in the 500-freestyle (5:39.66) and
Sydney Everhart in the 100-butterfly (1:02.34).
The Rangers also swept the two relays. Senior
Stephanie Cushman, senior
Katie Jefferson, Everhart, and Garcia Hynds teamed up to win the 200-medley (1:54.83) while Shapiro, Cashin, freshman
Grace Aboussleman, and Vishwanath claimed the 200-freestyle in 1:43.58.
Drew continues its season next Saturday, when it visits Ramapo College in a 2 p.m. start.
