Ziemba's PK Lifts Women's Soccer at Moravian

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Senior Sydney Ziemba scored on a penalty kick in the 50th minute and the Drew University women's soccer team earned a 1-0 Landmark Conference (LC) victory at Moravian College Saturday evening.

In a defensive-minded game, the two sides combined for just 13 shots, with Moravian holding a 9-4 advantage.

Freshman Angela Accetturo made a pair of saves to earn her first collegiate shutout for the Rangers (6-7, 2-2 LC), who find themselves in fifth place in the Landmark standings with three conference games remaining.

Neither side placed a shot on goal in the first half, when the Greyhounds held a 3-2 edge in overall shots.

The Rangers caught a break early in the second half when they were awarded a PK, and Ziemba cashed in with her fourth goal of the season. It was her game in a row with a penalty-kick goal.

Moravian would out-shoot Drew 6-1 over the remainder of the period. But the Rangers' back row allowed just two shots on goal, and Accetturo would turn aside shots in the 53rd and 78th minutes.

Drew returns to action on Tuesday, when it hosts Landmark Conference foe Scranton in a make-up game starting at 7:30 p.m.
