Rangers Play DeSales to Scoreless Draw

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - The Drew University men's soccer earned its second shutout of the season, playing host DeSales University to a 0-0 tie Wednesday afternoon.

Making his first collegiate start, junior Jake Marlowe made four saves in goal for the Rangers (4-4-2), who out-shot the Bulldogs 32-9. Jake Padula made 13 stops for DeSales (3-7-1).

Drew has now played three straight double-overtime affairs after defeating Kean 1-0 last Wednesday and tying Goucher 2-2 this past Saturday.

Drew held a 7-4 shot advantage in the first half and had an excellent look at the net early in the second period, but Padula made a leaping save on a blast from freshman Modesto Nogueira. The Rangers continued to pepper the net over the rest of the half, piling up 19 shots, but Padula made eight of his saves in the period. Marlowe had a big second half for Drew, turning aside three shots.

The Rangers continued to threaten during the two overtime periods, out-shooting DeSales 6-1. Drew earned three straight corners in the last two minutes, with the final one leading to a header from freshman David Camargo that sailed just wide of the left post.

Junior Nate Race led the Rangers with nine shots on the day, including five that were on frame.

The Blue and Green return to Landmark Conference action on Saturday, when they visit 20th-ranked Catholic University at 1 p.m.
