NEWARK, N.J. - The Rangers built a 15-9 shot advantage, but were handed a 1-0 setback at Rutgers-Newark in a non-conference women's soccer match Wednesday evening.
The Raiders (8-5-1) scored the game's lone goal early in the opening half, and it proved to be enough for the hosts, who received five saves from Heidi Paulson.
Freshman
Angela Accetturo registered both of her saves early in the match for Drew (5-6), making back-to-back stops three minutes apart. However, the hosts broke with a goal from Sabria Glasgow in the 17th minute.
The Rangers placed four shots on goal in the opening period, including three over a four-and-a-half minute stretch midway through the period, but were unable to dent Paulson.
Junior
Sarah Racine led the Rangers with three shots on goal for the game while junior
Leah Dentale, freshman
Ayla Lopez, and senior
Sydney Ziemba also put one shot on frame.
Drew returns to Landmark Conference action on Saturday, when it hosts Elizabethtown College at 4 p.m.
