MADISON, N.J. – The Drew University men's lacrosse team lost by a final of 13-3 at defending Landmark Conference (LC) champion Elizabethtown College on Saturday.
The Blue Jays (7-6, 3-1 LC) outscored the Rangers 5-0 in the first quarter, scoring three times inside the last 3:26. Drew held the hosts to one goal in the second quarter and it was a 6-0 game at halftime.
Elizabethtown stretched its lead to 10-0 after scoring the first four goals of the third quarter. The Rangers got on the scoreboard with the final two goals of the period, as junior
Kyle MacDonnell struck with 4:01 remaining before senior defensive midfielder
Thomas Garner found the back of the net at the 1:22 mark.
The Jays came back with the first three goals of the fourth quarter before junior
Kevin Goettlich set the final score with a tally at the 1:40 mark.
Defensively, sophomore
Jonny Bronander posted four caused turnovers and three ground balls for Drew. Facing a 44-shot attack, junior
Nate Sanders made 15 saves for Drew while sophomore
Mike McGeeney stopped a pair of shots over the last six minutes.
The Rangers (1-13, 0-4 LC) continue their season on Saturday, when they host Moravian College at 1 p.m.
